Orthodontist
Role Overview: We are seeking a qualified Orthodontist to join our team and help provide exceptional patient care. We are looking for a well experienced orthodontist who possesses comprehensive knowledge of orthodontic treatment including diagnosis, treatment planning and appliance placement and adjustment and has the ability to work effectively with a dental team for our 5+ practices in Brooklyn and Queens. We are seeking a motivated individual who is well detail-oriented and able to work collaboratively with other dental professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Scope of Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Patient Care
Conducting consultations to evaluate orthodontic needs and create treatment plans
Installing and adjusting orthodontic appliances such as braces and aligners
Monitoring patient progress and making necessary adjustments to treatment plan
Educating patients on oral hygiene and care during orthodontic treatment
Providing follow-up care and maintenance for orthodontic appliances
Clinical
Performing diagnostic procedures such as panoramic x-rays, bitewings, and intraoral photos, as well as itero’s scans.
Ensuring proper sterilization of dental tools and equipment to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.
Maintaining clean and organized operatories for efficient patient care.
Developing and implementing clinical protocols to ensure quality of care
Participating in continuing education to stay current with the latest orthodontic techniques and technology
Administrative
Managing and maintaining patient records and treatment plans
Coordinating with the treatment coordinator to ensure efficient scheduling and follow-up care
Collaborating with dental assistants and hygienists to provide seamless patient care
Managing inventory of orthodontic supplies and equipment, ordering and restocking as needed
Maintaining communication with referring dentists and other healthcare providers
Functional Skills:
Proficiency in dental treatment
The main part in managing a dental office is providing exceptional dental treatment. Therefore, having a thorough understanding of the different types of malocclusions and how to develop an appropriate treatment plan for each patient is necessary. Maintaining a good understanding of orthodontic appliances, dental anatomy, infection control and safety, as well as patient communication and education.
Interpersonal skills
While understanding numbers and statistics play a large part in the role of the orthodontist, the main focus should be on the individuals those figures represent. The duties of an orthodontist may include collaborating with other dental professionals to provide comprehensive patient care, maintaining accurate patient records and documenting all treatments performed.
Education
While the role of an Orthodontist is a major part of dentistry, patients look at their dentist to provide them with effective and accurate diagnosis and education. This individual should be educating patients and parents on proper oral hygiene practices and recommend treatment options to promote oral health. This individual should also consider participating in up to date courses with the latest developments in dentistry. Adhering to all state and federal regulations regarding patient care and record keeping.
Additional Qualifications:
Knowledge
Experience in Dental Office setting of at least 5 years
Possess working knowledge of Orthodontics such as common procedures and treatment
Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in dental procedures
Communication / Problem Solving
Communicate effectively with patients and their families to discuss treatment options, address concerns and provide education on proper oral hygiene
Ability to work effectively with a dental team, including dental assistants and hygienist
Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills to diagnose and treat oral health issues.

Experience Requirements:
Completion of an orthodontic residency program accredited by the American Dental Association(ADA)
Active New York State dental license and certification in orthodontics from the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO)
Experience working as a dentist in a clinical setting
